Watch: Team India fans celebrate Mohammed Shami’s birthday by cutting the cake during 4th Test

India’s pace spearhead Mohammed Shami celebrates his birthday on September 3. The seamer couldn’t bring his 31st birthday with pomp and show as India is currently involved in the fourth Test of the five-match series against England at the Kennington Oval in London. Howver, the Indian fans made sure to make Shami feel special on his birthday.

A bunch of Indian fans brought the cake to the Oval to celebrate the 31-year-old’s special day. The fans made sure to cut the cake while Shami was standing ahead of them near the boundary line. The bowler acknowledged the love of the cricket fanatics and responded by giving a thumbs up.

Shami could also be seen telling the people to share the cake among themselves. The video of the same has been trending on social media. Another heartwarming episode that took place around the same time was the Indian fans sharing the cake with English spectators too.

Shami isn’t playing the fourth Test match between England and India at the Oval. At the time of toss, the Indian skipper Virat Kohli had informed that India’s two seamers including the likes of Shami and Ishant Sharma have suffered niggles and were thus ruled out of the fourth Test.

Though there isn’t any reason to worry as both the players have gotten small niggles, the Indian team management decided to not take a risk. Exclusion from the Oval Test will also give a much-needed break to Shami. The 31-year-old featured in the first three matches and ended up with 11 wickets under his belt at an average of 27.55.

Coming to the fourth Test, at the halfway stage, England has an edge over India. England are leading by 99 runs after their first batting innings. The hosts will fancy winning the Test match by causing a collapse of India’s batting unit in the third innings.
