The intense mega auction for the Tata Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022 finally came to an end on Sunday in Bengaluru. All the franchises had to take the harsh call of releasing some of their top previous players and Chetan Sakariya leaving Rajasthan Royals (RR) was amongst them.

Meanwhile, RR CEO Jake Lush McCrum shared an emotional message for his former team member and also welcomed Navdeep Saini, who could be the replacement of the left-arm seamer. 

“Yeah, we wanted to get another quality Indian seamer in there. He (Navdeep Saini) obviously bowls incredibly fast, we can bowl him at multiple places and he plays consistently for India as well. He’s played at a bigger stage, performed in the IPL and we’re really happy to add him to our squad.

“It’s always tough losing your former players. Chetan was obviously in that lot and I’ve really messaged him, since we’ll chat with him later. He’s gutted to be leaving us and we’re gutted we couldn’t get him. It just got pushed a little too hard high for us,” McCrum said in a video posted on Royals’ official Twitter handle.

Chetan Sakariya thanked RR team players and support staff

The Vartej-born Chetan Sakariya went on to thank his Rajasthan teammates and support staff for showing faith in his abilities.

“One season of IPL with the Rajasthan Royals was a big opportunity and a learning curve for me. I want to thank all my teammates and the support staff at RR for all that I learned from them,” Sakariya shared the post on KOO on Monday.

“Forever grateful to them for the faith they showed in me. A special mention for Zubeen sir and Rommy sir for their constant support. It’s now time for a new chapter with the Delhi Capitals,” he added.
