“Hardik Pandya will become an automatic selection for the T20 World Cup if he bowls well” – Sunil Gavaskar
Hardik Pandya
Hardik Pandya hasn’t played any international cricket since the last year’s T20 World Cup. Indian Premier League (IPL) is a place for young talents to showcase their skills and find a place in the national team. This year, keeping in mind the T20 World Cup in Australia many players are gearing up to be selected to play the World Cup and Pandya is one of them. He is searching for a way to get back to the national team.
Former Indian cricketer and legendary batsman Sunil Gavaskar reckons Hardik Pandya will be an ‘automatic pick’ in India’s squad in the World Cup if he bowls well.
He said on Star Sports: “Whether Hardik Pandya will bowl, how many overs he will bowl, will also be something which not just the Gujarat Titans, but the entire cricketing fraternity will be looking forward to. Because if he starts to bowl and bowl well, with his batting ability, make no mistake, he will become an automatic selection for the World T20”.
On Pandya, even Ravi Shashtri pointed out the positives and said: “We saw before the toss he was bowling and loosening up, which is a terrific sign for Indian cricket because I think he is twice the player when he bowls.”
Hardik Pandya gets dismissed by brother Krunal Pandya
Due to a severe back injury, he hasn’t played not only for India but didn’t bowl also; questions were asked on whether he would be able to bowl in the IPL or not. Although the explosive batter is leading the Gujarat Titans this season, fans could see that the right-arm pacer could bowl four overs while playing against the Lucknow Super Giants. He conceded 37 runs and often breached the 140-kmph mark. But still, fans were overjoyed, firstly, because he could bowl and secondly because he was dismissed by his brother.
Two ex-Mumbai Indians and brothers- Hardik Pandya and Krunal Pandya– faced each other yesterday in the match. In the 11th over, Krunal bowled on the middle stump, Hardik swung it which resulted in a catch and fans, as they saw a brother dismissing his brother, started creating memes on them.
Meanwhile, in the first game of the two new faces, Gujarat Titans and Lucknow Supergiants, the latter posed 158/6 in 20 overs. The Titans crossed the target and won the contest by five wickets.
