The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) President Sourav Ganguly has cleared that Rahul Dravid will travel with the national side as the coach for the tour of Sri Lanka.
In a recent interaction with The Indian Express, Ganguly said: “Rahul Dravid will be the coach for the India tour to Sri Lanka”.
The veteran cricketer took the coaching role for the India ‘A’ and India Under-19 teams, followed by commanding the National Cricket Academy (NCA). Dravid has played a crucial role in grooming the young talents over the years and helped in developing the bench strength of the senior team.
The BCCI had earlier announced a 20-member squad for the six-match series against SL, scheduled from July 13 to July 25. This includes three One Day Internationals (ODIs) followed by three Twenty20 Internationals (T20Is).
Ace Indian opening batsman Shikhar Dhawan has been appointed to lead the side while speedster Bhuvneshwar Kumar has been picked as the vice-captain.
The Indian team has begun their mandatory 14-day quarantine period in Mumbai before boarding the Sri Lanka-bound flight later this month.
