Peshawar Zalmi took to Twitter and announced on Saturday that Inzamam-ul-Haq has been appointed as their mentor and batting consultant for the Pakistan Super League (PSL)s remaining matches.

“Legend Inzamam Ul Haq joins Peshawar Zalmi as Mentor/Batting Consultant for remaining matches of PSL 6,” Peshawar Zalmi posted on Twitter.

Inzamam-ul-Haq is regarded as one of Pakistan’s most prolific batsmen. In 378 ODI matches, he scored 11,739 runs at an average of 39.53. Inzamam has amassed 8,830 runs in Test cricket, including 46 half-centuries and 25 hundred. He briefly acted as the Pakistan team’s batting consultant, chief selector, and coached Afghanistan after retiring from international cricket in 2007.

Talking about Peshawar Zalmi, they have a solid team for PSL 2021, and the team management would hope for their batters to perform better under Inzamam‘s direction. Peshawar Zalmi are currently in second place on the points table, behind reigning champions Karachi Kings, after three wins and two losses in the first phase of PSL 2021.

Peshawar Zalmi won the trophy in 2017 and finished as runner-ups in the next two seasons.

PSL 6 was suspended midway due to an increase in the Covid-19 cases among the franchise players and staff. The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) officially confirmed on Thursday that it had secured all required permissions and concessions from the UAE government to conduct the remaining 20 PSL matches in Abu Dhabi.

Merely 14 of the 30 group matches could be played until the competition was called off. Wasim Khan, PCB Chief Executive, expressed his joy after meeting the necessary requirements to host the PSL 6 and thanked the UAE government and the other parties involved for their assistance.

“We are delighted with this development as the remaining hurdles in the staging of the remaining PSL 6 matches in Abu Dhabi have been overcome and all systems are now good to go. We are grateful to the UAE government, National Emergency Crisis and Disasters Management Authority, Emirates Cricket Board, and Abu Dhabi Sports Council for their support and patronage in ensuring all final obstacles were removed, which has firmly put us in a position to complete our marquee event,” said Wasim Khan as quoted by Hindustan Times.
