IPL 2021: WATCH – Harshal Patel picks up first hattrick of the season
Harshal Patel
Harshal Patel‘s breakout season in the Indian Premier League continues as he added a hattrick to his name. Patel demolished the Mumbai Indians’ middle order as he became the third Royal Challengers Bangalore bowler to pick a hattrick. The youngster stepped up in a crucial time to give his side the breakthroughs they so needed.
Coming in to bowl the 17th over, Harshal Patel had his work cut out with the dangerous duo of Hardik Pandya and Kieron Pollard at the crease. The seasoned campaigner stuck to his plans to first dismiss Pandya, who was caught at covers before bowling the dangerous Pollard around his legs. Rahul Chahar was the third to go as Harshal cleaned him up for a golden duck to complete his hattrick.
Harshal Patel picks four wickets as MI crumble
Having clinched five wickets in the first encounter against MI, Harshal picked up four in the return fixture. It was the purple cap holder who picked the final wicket of the Indians to give his side a much-needed win. With the four-wicket haul, Harshal took his wicket tally to 23 as he becomes a favourite to retain the cap at the end of the season.
This is the first time RCB has managed to beat MI in both the matches the sides played in a season. The RCB bowlers ran riot as they defended 165, restricting MI to 111, their lowest total against the Royal Challengers. Barring Harshal, Yuzvendra Chahal (three wickets) and Glenn Maxwell (2 wickets) chipped in to give their side a breather following to loses on the trot.
