“Synonym of ‘DESTRUCTION'” Ravindra Jadeja causes a furore on Twitter with his outlandish performance against KKR
Ravindra Jadeja
The decorated all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja once again stamped his authority on the 22-yard pitch. The Indian cricket star produced a masterclass with the willow to help his franchise Chennai Super Kings (CSK) rise from the dead and script a victory. The Super Kings were up against the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in the 39th match of the 14th edition of the Indian Premier League.
The second innings of the match saw the Yellow Army in trouble as there was a collapse of their middle-order. The team was scheduled to chase a target of 172 set by KKR in their 20 overs. Chennai got off to a phenomenal start as Ruturaj Gaikwad and Faf du Plessis stitched a 74-run partnership.
Andre Russell gave the much-needed breakthrough to CSK by sending Ruturaj back to the pavilion. Then started the collapse of CSK as the middle-order failed to pose any threat in the game. Towards the end, the Knight Riders were dominating the game as CSK needed 26 runs off 12 deliveries.
Ravindra Jadeja trends on Twitter
That is when Ravindra Jadeja took the matter in his hand and decided to cause carnage on the match field. Bowling the 19th over, Prasidh Krishna was totally destroyed by the CSK all-rounder. Jadeja hammered a maximum over the backward square on the third ball of the 19th over.
The same was followed by the all-rounder hitting another six while the next two balls were hit for a boundary by Jadeja. The exploits by Ravindra Jadeja resulted in CSK needing just four runs off the last six overs. The mind-boggling performance by the Saurashtra-born sent Twitter into a meltdown as they again hailed the all-rounder as Sir Ravindra Jadeja.
Meanwhile, CSK won the match on the very last ball as Sunil Narine was exceptional with the ball in the last over. The KKR bowler picked the wicket of Jadeja and Sam Curran while giving three runs in the five balls. It was Deepak Chahar who smashed one run on the last ball to help CSK win by two wickets.
