IPL 2021: “Told Dwayne Bravo to bowl six different balls in one over” – MS Dhoni

Chennai Super Kings (CSK) skipper MS Dhoni leapt massive praises for all-rounder Dwayne Bravo after the match against Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) on Friday. The West Indies cricketer won the ‘Player of the Match’ award for his outstanding spell of 4-0-24-3 in match 35 of IPL 2021.

Bravo’s bowling performance turned out to be a vital cog in CSK’s victory as he helped his side restrict the opponents to a below-par total of 156/6. In reply, the Chennai-based franchise comfortably chased down the target inside the 19th over with six wickets in hand.

MS Dhoni talked about his bowling plans with Bravo after the game was over. The 39-year-old also revealed the camaraderie they share and referred to DJ Bravo as his “brother”.

“Bravo has turned up fit – that’s a very good thing. And he is executing well. I call him my brother. We always have fights over whether he should bowl the slower ball. But I told him that now everyone knows he bowls slower balls, so I told him to bowl six different balls in one over. Whenever he can, he takes up responsibilities,” Dhoni was quoted as saying in the presentation ceremony.

“Ravindra Jadeja’s spell was crucial”

MSD also shed light on Ravindra Jadeja’s economic spell 0/31 during the middle-overs when RCB batters were cruising away with a decent run rate.

“We were worried about the dew and we saw that last season. They got off to a great start and after the eighth or ninth over, the pitch slowed down a bit. Jadeja’s spell was very crucial especially with the way Padikkal was batting from one end. I told Moeen that he would bowl from one end during drinks, but then I changed my mind,” he added.
