“People need to cut athletes some slack” Kevin Pietersen opens up on Eoin Morgan’s poor form in IPL 2021

Kolkata Knight Riders’ skipper Eoin Morgan finds himself becoming a target of the trolls time and again. KKR have been performing brilliantly in the second phase of the 14th edition of the T20 Extravaganza in the United Arab Emirates (UAE). However, Morgan isn’t enjoying a good personal campaign.

The middle-order batter is struggling with his form in the T20 league as he has failed to live up to his reputation. The England skipper has scored just 111 runs in 13 matches at a strike rate of 100.90 and an average of 11.10. The underwhelming performance by the Englishman has resulted in him getting subjected to a lot of hate and trolls on social media.

Recently, former England skipper Kevin Pietersen was also questioned regarding the poor form of Morgan. The veteran decided to defend the KKR skipper as he asked the fans to give some space to the batter. Pietersen also added that the players aren’t robots who can perform well all the time.

“Thoughts on Eoin Morgan’s current form?” a fan questioned.

To this Pietersen replied, “It happens. No sportsperson is a robot that continually performs. People need to cut athletes some slack!”

Meanwhile, the Knight Riders scripted a scintillating six-wicket victory over Sunrisers Hyderabad to collect 12 points on the points table. Knight Riders are currently third in the standings with six victories and seven losses. The team now needs to win their last league match against Rajasthan Royals to confirm a berth in the second stage of the competition.

At present, Rajasthan Royals, Mumbai Indians, Punjab Kings, and KKR have chances of grabbing the fourth playoff spot. The Knight Riders have an advantage in the race as they are the only one among the four teams to have a positive net run rate.
