The International Cricket Council (ICC) has named a star-studded commentary panel for the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2021. The tournament is being hosted in the United Arab Emirates (UAE). The group matches and the warm-up games are already underway in the UAE while the Super 12 matches will kickstart from October 23, Saturday. 

At present, eight teams split into two groups of four each are fighting with each other to make a place in the Super 12. The top two teams from both groups will be making it to the next round of the T20 World Cup. Scotland, Oman, Bangladesh, and Papua New Guinea forms a part of Group B while Group A features teams like Sri Lanka, Ireland, Netherlands, and Namibia. 

To make the ICC event more interesting, ICC has picked a decorated and experienced panel. Two new inclusions in the panel are Dale Steyn and Daren Sammy. Steyn announced his retirement from all formats of the game a couple of months back while Sammy was the winning skipper of the previous edition of the T20 World Cup.

Notably, only two female commentators have been picked by the ICC for the Global T20 event. India’s Anjum Chopra is one of the female commentators alongside Natalie Germanos. Apart from the 21-member squad named by the ICC, broadcasters Star Sports have also picked an elite panel for regional commentary.

Members picked by Star Sports: VVS Laxman, Brian Lara, Jatin Sapru, Aakash Chopra, Deep Dasgupta, Nikhil Chopra, Scott Styris, Parthiv Patel, Irfan Pathan, Sanjay Bangar, Gautam Gambhir, Harbhajan Singh, and Ajit Agarkar.
