Mitchell Marsh, who was to join the Delhi Capitals after the series in Pakistan, has suffered a hip flexor injury that ruled him out of the ODI Pakistan series on Monday, March 28.
It was a huge blow for the Delhi franchise as they have acquired only seven overseas players in their squad. In the opening game against the Mumbai Indians, five players were already not available due to their national duty and they fielded with only two overseas players. They signed the Aussie all-rounder Mitchell Marsh for Rs. 6.50
Australia will play a three-match ODI series against Pakistan, which will start on Tuesday, March 29. A T20 match will played after the ODI on April 5. Along with Mitchell Marsh, David Warner was to join the DC after April 6. Now injury cloud has spread over March might ruled him out of this IPL season.

Aaron Finch, Australia’s ODI captain, told reporters: “He (Marsh) injured his hip flexor, we think, at training. We are going to have to wait and see what that looks like, but I don’t think he’ll be available for the series based on how he was feeling yesterday.”
“He sustained that in a fielding drill, it was a high intensity lateral movement drill and he bent down to pick it up one-handed and went to throw and felt a twinge.”
Marsh broke a record last year when he scored the most T20 runs in a calendar year as an Australian by scoring 627 runs at 36.88. Marsh was a part of the winning Aussie team in the final against New Zealand in the T20 World Cup last year. He scored an unbeaten 77 runs and helped Australia lift their maiden trophy. In recent times, he has been one of Australia’s best white-ball players.
In 2020, he couldn’t join Sunrisers Hyderabad after hurting his ankle. In 2021, he pulled himself out of IPL due to bubble fatigue. For the third straight season, Marsh will miss out playing in the IPL if he fails to join the DC.
