Only happiness in Afghanistan is cricket: Mohammad Nabi
Mohammad Nabi was appointed as Afghanistan skipper just a few days before the commencement of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup. Rashid Khan stepped down as Afghan T20I skipper owing to a tiff between the Afghanistan Cricket Board and the decorated spinner.
Rashid wasn’t happy with the country’s cricket board as they announced the T20I World Cup without any consultation to him. Therefore, he decided to limit himself as a player. Nabi is quite excited about his new role as he is keen on providing happiness to the people back home by performing well in the competition.
Ahead of the team’s clash with Scotland, the Afghan skipper had said, “Everyone knows that back home in Afghanistan, there’s a lot happening from the last few months. But, from a cricket point of view, everybody is ready and prepared well for this World Cup. The fans are really waiting for that because the only happiness in Afghanistan is cricket.
“If you’re willing to do well in the tournament and we win the games, the fans become really happy and there will be a lot of smiles on their faces. Insha’Allah everything will be changed because of this World Cup if we do well in the tournament.”
