“Whatever MS Dhoni does is…” Kasi Viswanathan surprised by Dhoni’s shocking captaincy move

MS Dhoni
In a recent video shared by the Chennai Super Kings (CSK), CSK CEO Kasi Viswanath reflected upon the sudden decision of MS Dhoni after he resigned from captaincy. CSK will start their campaign against Kolkata Knight Riders today at the Wankhede stadium in Mumbai.
Even Viswanathan has not expected that MS Dhoni could do this just a few days from the start of the IPL. But he believes that whatever Dhoni will do will be in the best interest of the franchise. He called MS Dhoni one of the most important player for CSK.
Viswanathan said: “When I heard the news, I was a little bit surprised. I didn’t expect that coming from MS at this point of time. That is my personal view. The fact is whatever MS does, as far as CSK is concerned, he will do it in the best interests of the franchise. He is been one of the most important players, a captain, a wicketkeeper, an all-rounder, for CSK. I think whatever he takes, will be the right decision for CSK because I know he has the interests of CSK foremost in his mind.”
“I spoke to Jaddu in the evening when we went for practice. He told me that MS had indicated to him last year after IPL that he will have to take on more responsibilities. He had also indicated that at one point, he (Jadeja) may have to take over as captain. The fact that Dhoni is going to be playing alongside him in the matches, it will be helpful for Jaddu also to get the inputs from MS. It should be a great help.” He added.

The end of MS Dhoni era

The franchise had also dropped a hint during the player’s retention process ahead of the mega-auction. Jadeja was retained for Rs. 16 crores and Dhoni for Rs. 12 crores. CSK has revealed that this was also suggested by Dhoni only.
Just two days before the start of IPL 2022, the news of MS Dhoni relinquishing CSK captaincy and handing the reins to all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja is still shocking the cricket fans all across India. Dhoni’s stepping down from captaincy is an end of an era. It was completely Dhoni’s call to resign from this position, as Viswanathan said in a recent video shared by the franchise.
Dhoni has remained the captain of CSK since the inaugural season of IPL in 2008. Slowly he became the ‘Thala’ of Chennai fans. Dhoni’s last year IPL wasn’t a very good one as he scored only 114 runs in 16 matches but still, CSK lifted the trophy by beating KKR. Aged 40 now, his magnificent career is towards its end.
