Winning the toss, Chris Green decided to bat first and put up a competitive score of 172 on the board. Opener Matthew Gilke scored a stupendous 92 as he helped his team past 170. The Adelaide Strikers got off to a start in the chase as they smashed 25 runs in the first two overs before Muhammad Hasnain struck gold.

As the frontline bowlers went for plenty in their very first overs, Green turned to the debutant and Muhammad Hasnain didn’t disappoint. The 21-year-old steamed in scalped off three wickets in four deliveries to turn the tables in his team’s favours. The Strikers’ top order was undone by the raw pace of Hasnain.

Matt Short was the Pakistani quick’s maiden BBL wicket. The opener was dismissed on the second delivery as he tried to flick a delivery on the pads and was caught at square leg. Jake Weatherald was next to follow as he was caught plumb on a delivery that nipped back in. The next one to go was Jonathan Wells as he scooped the ball in the air and was caught at short midwicket.

Matt Renshaw and Harry Nielsen did put up a fight for the visitors but it was too little too late for the Strikers. The three wins on the trot place the Thunders third on the table with five wins from eight games. Perth Scorchers lead the way with only one loss in eight games thus far.
