4, 4WD,N6,4,4,4,6,1: Jasprit Bumrah records most Test runs in an over; Stuart Broad leaks most expensive 35
Jasprit Bumrah and Stuart Broad
It was one of those moments when the entire cricket fraternity relived the India-England match at the inaugural 2007 T20 World Cup. Ex-cricketer Yuvraj Singh and Andrew Flintoff had some verbal fight and before anyone could anticipate what is to come, Yuvraj Singh slammed six sixes in an over off Stuart Broad. Broad broke the unwanted record of conceding most runs in an over (36 runs).
Who whould have thought to witness something similar like the Yuvraj-Broad over in the rescheduled fifth Test match against England at Edgbaston in Birmingham? It wasn’t Yuvraj at the crease this time but team pacer Jasprit Bumrah! Bumrah was made captain for the first time in the absence of regular captain Rohit Sharma.
Broad’s first ball to Bumrah went for a four. The next was too short a ball and had gone for a wide. Broad then bowled a no-ball which Bumrah smashed it for a six. He then unleashed back to back three boundaries. The next ball was a clean shot from Bumrah. On the last ball, he ran quickly for a run. He scored 29 runs in the over and Stuart Broad conceded 35 runs in the same over.

Jasprit Bumrah breaks Brian Lara’s record
Brian Lara had smashed 28 runs in Test in 2003-04 against South Africa off Robin Peterson’s over. Lara smashed four boundaries and two sixes off legal deliveries. But a 18-year long record by this legendary batsmen was broken by Jasprit Bumrah. Bumrah had smashed 29 runs in a single over and this has become a world record of most runs scored in an over in the history of Test cricket.
Bumrah took the innings to 416 after his quick-fire of 31 runs off just 16 balls. After India found its innings tethered at 98/5, Rishabh Pant rescued it with his ton on Day 1. Day 2 saw another century by team all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja and it ended with a blistering knock from Bumrah’s blade.
