991 players sign up for IPL 2023 auction; check details here

A total of 991 players have registered for the Indian Premier League 2023 (IPL 2023) auction which is set to take place on December 23 in Kochi. The registration of players for the auction closed on Thursday, November 30 and as per the Board of Control for Cricket in India’s (BCCI) report, 714 Indian and 277 overseas players have signed up for the mini-auction for the 10-team tournament.
They include 786 uncapped players and 185 capped players. Also, 20 players are from the Associate Nations. Amongst the capped players, 19 are Indians and 166 are overseas. The tally of uncapped Indians is 604, while that of the internationals is 88.
Australia tops the list of 991 players. A total of 57 players have registered for the mini-auction. South Africa stands second with 52 sign-ups, followed by West Indies with 33 players, and England with 31 players.

Cameron Green can be the most expensive purchase of IPL 2023

Cameron Green, Joe Root, and Adil Rashid hinted at registering themselves for the action. Green will be one of the most-eyed players for the franchises. The 23-year-old all-rounder is in splendid form and has won matches for Australia several times.
Former Australia skipper and Delhi Capitals head coach Ricky Ponting hinted at signing up Green for his team. “I am really interested to have an IPL conversation with you bout Cam Green because I have freed up a fair bit of money at the Delhi Capitals this year,” Ricky Ponting told Andrew McDonald during Australia’s 1st Test against West Indies.
Meanwhile, the window to retain players for the upcoming season’s IPL ended on November 15. 163 players were retained and 85 players were released by the 10 franchises. Hugh Edmeades will be back as auctioneer at the mini-auction.
Led by Hardik Pandya, Gujarat Titans won their maiden title in their maiden appearance in IPL 2022 by beating Sanju Samson-led Rajasthan Royals to end the monopoly of Chennai Super Kings and Mumbai Indians. These two franchises have won four and five times, respectively. But in IPL 2022, MI finished at the bottom of the points table, while CSK finished 9th in the 10-franchise league.
