Aakash Chopra names Pakistani pacer that India need to be wary of

The days for one of the big clashes of the ongoing T20 World Cup- India versus Pakistan– is getting closer. Rohit Sharma‘s Men in Blue will once again lock horns against their arch-rivals in the shortest format of the game on Sunday, October 23.

Ahead of the high-octane clash, India commentator Aakash Chopra made a big claim concerning the Pakistani pacer who can be more dangerous than the spearhead sensation Shaheen Afridi. According to Chopra, Haris Rauf is a potential threat to the Indian batters.

But I do feel the bowler to be wary of on Sunday isn’t Shaheen. It’s Haris Rauf. Afridi is getting close to his best but isn’t there yet…and is unlikely to be by the 23rd either. Rauf will bowl the tougher overs and has the potential to make a difference,” Chopra wrote in a tweet.

Afridi didn’t avail his services to his national team during the Asia Cup 2022 due to a knee injury he sustained in a match against England. But he has made a comeback by scalping two wickets in their second warm-up match against Afghanistan on October 19.

Shaheen was one of the main reasons behind India’s loss at the T20 World Cup last year in Dubai, and fans and cricketers alike are excited to see if the star pacer can disturb the Indian batting line-up again.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) honorary secretary Jay Shah announced that Asia Cup 2023 will be held at a different venue and not in Pakistan. This has once again soured the relationship between the two cricketing neighbors.

Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) then shared in a tweet that they’ll not send their players to India for the ODI World Cup 2023, which is scheduled to take place in India. However, Aakash Chopra feels PCB won’t stay glued to their decision and will definetely send their men to India.

“The Asia Cup is a minor tournament compared to the world cup. Skipping the World Cup means you will end up forgoing a massive amount of revenue that ICC shares (with the participating nations,” Chopra said on his Youtube channel.

He then added that India has been playing the role of a big brother in ACC. India doesn’t take a penny from the ACC, but other boards take four million or eight million; India ends up distributing their amount. Chopra is confirmed that if India decide to not travel to Pakistan, then India won’t.

“The Asia Cup will also be held at a neutral venue. And Pakistan will also definitely come to play in the World Cup (in India). Take all this from in writing. All these things are guaranteed,” Chopra added.
