When India defeated Pakistan by five wickets on Sunday, August 28 at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium, everyone was celebrating and so did the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) Secretary Jay Shah. Shah was seen refusing to hold the Indian flag politely when a fellow spectator spotted offering the flag to him to celebrate.

Twitterverse were disappointed to see how can an Indian show ‘disrespect’ to Indian flag and heavily criticized him for that action. But there’s a reason behind Shah’s action. Since he is the reigning Asian Cricket Council President, he has to abide by the rules of the ACC. And as per code of conduct, he has to show neutrality against all stakeholders.

Talking about yesterday’s match, Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Hardik Pandya‘s four and three wicket haul helped India bundle out Pakistan on 147. India chased the target with Virat Kohli and Ravindra Jadeja both scoring 35 runs while Hardik Pandya played an unbetean 33 runs off 17 balls and his lone six ended up crossing the boundary, giving India the perfect victory.

“In a chase like this, you always plan over-by-over. I always knew that there is one young bowler (Naseem or Shahnawaz Dahani) and also one left-arm spinner (Nawaz),” Pandya said after the match.

“We only needed 7 off the last over but even if we needed 15, I’d have fancied myself. I know the bowler is under more pressure than me in the 20th over. I try to keep things simple,” said India’s No. 1 all-rounder.

“In bowling, it’s important to assess the situations and use your weapons. For me, bowling short and the hard lengths have been my strengths. It’s about using them well and asking the right questions to make the batters commit a mistake,” he said.
