On 17th December India bowled out South Africa for a measly 116. Arshdeep Singh and Avesh Khan ran through the Proteas batting attack, with Singh bagging a fifer. With such a low score, everyone expected India to chase it with ease without losing a wicket. Unfortunately, it didn’t work that way.

Ruturaj Gaikwad, who had scored a T20I century against Australia the month before, lasted only 10 balls, scoring 5. He was caught leg before wicket by Wiaan Mulder in the 4th over. The umpire believed the ball was missing the stump, but after a successful review he was sent to the pavilion.

India chased down the score with ease, as Sai Sudharsan scored his maiden fifty on debut. As the team departed the Wanderers, Gaikwad was restricted from entering the team bus. As he attempted to enter it, the driver accidentally shut the door, not letting him in.

As the video went viral, many fans started making memes. One said the bus driver didn’t let Ruturaj Gaikwad in because he wasn’t playing well, while others joked on how the driver was Shakib Al Hassan.

In the 2nd ODI, Ruturaj Gaikwad managed to score only 4 runs. He hit Nandre Burger for a boundary on his first ball, but was dismissed the very next ball. Burger, a left arm pacer who was bowling around the stump, swung the ball in and hit Gaikwad’s pads. The umpire gave it out and he reviewed it, but the DRS showed the ball was hitting the leg stump. Sai Sudarshan scored yet another half century, being dismissed for 63 in 83 balls.
