Ambati Rayudu has made a shocking revelation about the time when he was starting his cricketing career. He accused former Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) president Shivlal Yadav of ruining his career during his earlier days when he played for Hyderabad.
The former Chennai Super Kings (CSK) batsman said had there been no politics involved, he would have made his debut for India soon. But as Shivlal Yadav wanted his son Arjun Yadav to make his debut for India, Rayudu’s debut was delayed.
“Politics started from my childhood in the Hyderabad Cricket Association. Arjun Yadav, son of Shivlal Yadav, was harnessed with the intention of playing for Team India. As I was playing better than Arjun Yadav, they tried to remove me,” Rayudu told TV9 News Telugu.
Ambati Rayudu said Shivlal Yadav’s brother used to hurl abuse at him
Rayudu then said that though he played well in 2003 and 2004, as the selection committee was changed by then, Shivlal Yadav’close friends were a part of the panel and that is why he did not get the chance.
“They prevented anyone from talking to me for four years. The day before the match, Shivlal Yadav’s younger brother used to come drunk and swear in front of the house. They tried to hurt me mentally.” When Rayudu left Hyderabad for Andhra in Ranji Trophy, he got into a fight with Arjun in 2005.
Rayudu finally made his debut for India in 2013 in an ODI against Zimbabwe. In 55 ODIs and six T20Is, Rayudu has scored 1694 and 42 runs respectively.
And Shivlal Yadav was made the BCCI president on an interim basis in 2014 and was also the Hyderabad Cricket Association (HCA) president in the past. For India, he played 35 Tests and seven ODIs between 1979 and 1987.
