Yuzvendra Chahal, Rajasthan Royals’ leg-spinner reached an incredible milestone during the match against Kolkata Knight Riders at the DY Patil Stadium in Mumbai on Monday, April 20.

Rajasthan Royals defeated KKR by 7 runs in a thriller match. With the help of Jos Buttler’s 103, Rajasthan posted a massive 217/5. Jos Buttler scored his second century in IPL 2022. But apart from him, teammate Yuzvendra Chahal also stole the limelight with figures of 5-40 which also included a hat-trick.

As praises were poured from fans and cricketers, former cricketer and veteran leg-spinner Amit Mishra wished Yuzvendra Chahal to break his record of most IPL hat-tricks. Amit Mishra is the only player in the history of IPL to take three hat-tricks.

“Dear Yuzvendra Chahal, really happy about your splendid performance and hattrick in yesterday’s game. You proved that pitch and conditions don’t matter for a good leg-break bowler. Hope you break my record of 3 hattricks in IPL,” Amit Mishra tweeted.

While playing for Delhi Daredevils in 2008 and 2011, Amit Mishra picked up hattricks and in 2013, while playing for Sunrisers Hyderabad, he scalped his 3rd hat-trick. He is also the 3rd highest wicket-taker, with 166 wickets in 154 games.

In the last four overs Kolkata needed 40 runs and their skipper Shreyas Iyer, looking dangerous, was playing big shots. Chahal said after the match that in order to win, he must take wickets in his over and so he did.

Yuzvendra Chahal bowled an extraordinary spell that shattered Kolkata’s inning. In his last over, he conceded just 2 runs; one run was given due to a wide ball. He first grabbed the wicket of Venkatesh Iyer, then on the 4th ball, sent back the most important wicket of Shreyas Iyer.

Shivam Mavi and Pat Cummins were his next prey and he completed a deserving hat-trick. This was Yuzvendra Chahal’s first hat-trick in IPL.
