“Mussel diya”- Andre Russell stars as Kolkata beat Hyderabad by 54 runs; KKR mathematically alive for playoffs

It was a day for the all-rounder because it was a day for Andre Russell. With his contributing in every department Kolkata Knight Riders defeated Sunrisers Hyderabad by 54 runs on Saturday, May 14 at the MCA Stadium in Pune.
Choosing to bat first, KKR posted a competitive 177 runs after Sam Billings and Andre Russell’s 34 and 49 respectively. SRH’s Umran Malik was the highest wicket taker from the side with three wickets in his four overs.
SRH replied with the opener Abhishek Sharma scoring 43 off 28 balls with 4 fours and 2 sixes before he gave his wicket to Varun Chakravarthy.
A fuller delivery on middle and Abhishek Sharma went for a big slog-sweep but got a huge top-edge. The ball travelled in air and Sam Billings ran to his right to take a good catch.
SRH skipper Kane Williamson yet again failed to score runs by walking back at 9 off 17 balls after Andre Russell bowled him. Rahul Tripathi was caught and bowled by Tim Southee.
But Aiden Markram played a good innings of 32 off 25 balls with 3 sixes but it did no good to SRH. He was later bowled by Umesh Yadav. Nicolas Pooran was also caught and bowled by Sunil Narine.
SRH falter after just 123 runs
SRH at end could score only 123 runs by losing 8 wickets in their 20 overs. Russell picked up three wickets and conceded 22 runs in his four overs with an economy rate of 5.50. Tim Southee picked up two wickets while Umesh Yadav, Sunil Narine, and Varun Chakravarthy bagged one wicket each.
