Ever since Hardik Pandya returned to Mumbai Indians, there have been reports of the team’s atmosphere being a bit tense. First it started when Jasprit Bumrah posted an Instagram story just days after Pandya returned. Then it was followed by Suryakumar Yadav and yet another post by Bumrah after Pandya was announced captain

On 7th December, yet another cryptic story from someone in the Mumbai Indians contingent was uploaded. It came from former MI captain and coach, Kieron Pollard. In his story, he compared loyalty to the use of an umbrella, saying both were useless when there were no benefits. But the real reason behind his post is not known.

It looks like the sacking of Rohit Sharma for Pandya has left a majority of the team unhappy. Sharma led the team for 10 seasons, winning five IPL titles, the most by any captain in the IPL. According to many reports, Bumrah was also in contention to be the successor, but one of Pandya’s conditions for return was him being made captain

Fans are confident story is related to Mumbai Indians

Kieron Pollard retired from the IPL in 2022, and was immediately appointed as MI’s batting coach. He also played for their franchises in Major League Cricket and SA20. He has been affiliated to the franchise since, also captaining at times.

So when Pollard posted the story on loyalty, everyone guessed it to be related to the recent shake-up at the franchise. Many saw this as a dig at the MI management for replacing Rohit Sharma. Some also liked how he hadn’t held back his thoughts.

Check out their reactions:

Pandya replacing Rohit came as a shock for the entire cricketing fraternity of India. Fans across India voiced how they disapproved of the move and some even burnt the team’s merchandise as a protest.
