Groundsmen used fans to dry wet patches on the ground.

As rain ruined the match between India and Pakistan, the groundsmen of the R, Premadasa stadium worked hard to ensure the ground was ready to ensure the match could continue. As soon as the first drops fell, the groundsmen worked hard in making sure the entire ground was covered.
Unfortunately the rain was extremely heavy, which caused the outfield to get extremely wet. The wet outfield caused a lot of delay as there was no assurance that the pitch would dry early. The groundsmen worked hard to dry the pitch, using sponges and various other things.
One thing that caught the eye of Indian Off-Spinner, R Ashwin, was the fans used by the groundsmen. The groundsmen started to use 3 fans to dry the wet patches on the outfield. After the groundsmen managed to dry the outfield, it started to rain heavily again. The day’s play was declared washed out by the match officials and the play would continue.
On the reserve day, the start of play was once again disturbed by rain, but as the ground was covered for a long time, the pitch and outfield was not affected much. Groundsmen used their fans to dry the outfield and pitch and brought out a new device. They started to use halogen lights to dry the pitch.
