Asia Cup 2022: “What Amir did to them, what Shaheen did to the….India are very relieved”- Aaqib Javed’s huge claim prior to IND vs PAK clash

The electrifying match between India and Pakistan in the Asia Cup will take place tomorrow, that is on Sunday, August 28 at the Dubai International Stadium, the same venue where the two teams had previously clashed against each other last year. Babar Azam’s Pakistan defeated India by 10 wickets for the first time in World Cups creating history.

Pakistan’s star pacer Shaheen Afridi was instrumental in India’s defeat as he broke the back of the Indian batting line-up. He took the wickets of Rohit Sharma, KL Rahul and later of Virat Kohli. Only Kohli was able to play a half-century knock but eventually became Afridi’s victim.

Now the young Pakistani pacer won’t be there when Pakistan will face Rohit Sharma’s Men in Blue. Afridi has sustained a knee injury during the first Test against Sri Lanka last month. He remained in close contact with the team but failed to recover on time and got ruled out of the entire tournament.

When Shaheen Afridi got ruled out of the Asia Cup, Pakistan’s legendary pacer Waqar Younis claimed that Afridi’s absence will be a relief to Team India. And now, Aaqib Javed also made similar claim.

He said that just like Mohammad Amir destroyed the Indian top-order during the Champions Trophy final in 2017, Afridi did the same in last year’s T20 World Cup. And now that both the pacers won’t be part of the squad, India are quiet relieved.

“India are very relieved. What Amir did to them, what Shaheen did to them, that was their only threat. They will lose only when their top-order falls early. Because when Kohli arrives and the wickets have fallen early, him being out-of-form and under pressure would make it quite difficult for him,” Aaqib said during an interaction with Geo.
