On 21st February, the Women’s Premier League announced that Indian superstar, Shah Rukh Khan, was going to be headlining the opening ceremony. Along with him, actors Sidharth Malhotra, Kartik Aaryan, Shahid Kapoor, Varun Dhawan and Tiger Shroff were going to join in as well. 

Before the opening match of the season, Khan was at the Chinnaswamy Stadium to practice for his performance. Before leaving the stadium, he met the squads of the Delhi Capitals and Mumbai Indians.

While meeting the DC squad, the players asked him to do his iconic pose. Along with him, they forced captain Meg Lanning to pose with him, which they did. He later met up with the Mumbai Indians captain, Harmanpreet Kaur. They embraced each other and then had a short chat along with another fan. 

Videos of him practicing for the event have also gone viral. He was seen dancing to the songs “Jhoome jo Pathan” from Pathan and “Not Ramaiya Vastavaiya” from Jawan.

MI coach believes Mumbai Indians will retain the WPL title 

Mumbai Indians won the inaugural IPL, beating Delhi Capitals in the final by seven wickets. Ahead of the 2024 WPL, where they purchased five players. Devika Palshikar, the MI Batting coach, told Times of India that she believes the team will once again win the WPL.

After the auction, we are very happy that whatever we wanted, we have gotten. So, with the same confidence, we will be going into the second season. I am confident we will repeat the success.

Mumbai Indians and Delhi Capitals play the 2024 WPL opener at the Chinnaswamy Stadium. The match will start at 7:30pm IST, with an opening ceremony at 6:30pm.
