Before the start of the 2024 IPL Auction, many expected Travis Head to bring in the big bucks. His knock of 137 led his country to their 6th World Cup triumph and won man of the match. So when he came up for grabs in the Auction, everyone was surprised when he was bought for only ₹6.80 crore by Sunrisers Hyderabad.
With the base price of ₹2 crore, only SRH and Chennai Super Kings bid for the opener. There were a total of 24 bids by both teams until the defending champions pulled out of the bid. The opener had previously gone unsold in the 2022 IPL Auction, but is now sold for ₹6.8 crore.
