Travis Head missed a couple of matches for Australia in the 2023 ODI World Cup. However, the 29-year-old played his first match against New Zealand and started his campaign with a bang.

In that match, he scored his first century (109). After a couple of not-so-impressive performances in the next three matches, he scored his half-century against South Africa in the semifinals (62), before playing the match-winning knock in the final against India.

Chasing a small total of 241 runs, the Aussies lost three wickets quickly. But the pair of Head and Marnus Labuschagne ensured the team chased down the target easily to win the match by six wickets. Head, from 120 balls, scored 137 runs with 15 boundaries and four sixes, at a strike rate of 114.16.

And though Head broke billions of hearts, the Indian fans, or let’s say the Indian Premier League (IPL) fans are thinking about which team Head will play for in the 2024 season. Those who follow the cash-rich league closely know that Head is not a regular face in the tournament.

But, Head has played in the IPL. He made his debut seven years ago, in 2016. But a year ago, in 2015, the Delhi Capitals (DC) signed him and benched him throughout the season. It was after joining the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in 2016 that he made his debut, playing three matches and scoring 54 runs. In 2017, from seven matches, he collected 151 runs. So, in total, Head has played 10 IPL matches, scoring 205 runs.

Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) will be searching for a consistent opener in IPL 2024. If the two-time champions are successful in securing the services of Head, he can open for the side alongside either Rahmanullah Gurbaz or Jason Roy and give stability.

Delhi Capitals (DC)

As per speculations, Delhi Capitals (DC) may release Prithvi Shaw before the auction as he is recuperating from injury. Shaw has been a part of the side for a long time. If DC part ways with him, they will try to include Head as a top-order batter to play alongside his compatriot David Warner.

Gujarat Titans (GT)

Gujarat Titans (GT) started their innings in the previous two seasons with two openers, Wriddhiman Saha and Shubman Gill. The 2022 champions may release Saha ahead of the auction, given that the veteran recently turned 39. GT would try to find another reliable top-order batter and Head perfectly fits in the scenario and can form a dangerous pair with Gill.
