Australia’s Spencer Johnson, who recently earned his call to done the jersey of his country, produced a stunning bowling performance in The Hundred on his debut for the Oval Invincibles (OVL) against Manchester Originals (MCR) on Wednesday (August 9) at the Kennington Oval, London. Johnson conceded just one run from 20 deliveries with 19 dot balls with three wickets.
The one run he conceded was to Engaland’s white-ball skipper Jos Buttler. Johnson scalped the wickets of Usama Mir, Tom Hartley, and Joshua Little to restrict them to 92/10.
Oval Invincibles had scored 186/5 on the back of Heinrich Klaasen’s 60 off 27, Jason Roy’s 59 off 42, and Will Jacks’ 32 off 13 balls. After restricting MCR to 92, OVL won the match by a huge 94 runs. OVL’s total was the highest in the tournament.
“I’m speechless, not really sure what’s going on,” Johnson said after the match. “I’m pinching myself…I’ve had a bit of a tough run with injury but I’m 27 now and come out the other side. I am just really enjoying my cricket and lucky to be here.”

Who is Spencer Johnson?
The 27-year-old made his debut in the Big Bash League (BBL) for the Brisbane Heat and Sheffield Shield only this year. It’s due to his injuries and recurring foot stress fracture which hindered his early debut in the domestic side.
He then played the final in the Global T20 Canada on Sunday before earning a call to make to play a T20I series in South Africa on Monday. And on Wednesday, he recorded the figures of 1/3 in The Hundred in his debut match. The Invincibles picked him after Pakistani pacer Ihsanullah suffered an elbow injury.
Johnson has played just four first-class matches in his career, bagging 20 wickets with his best figures of 7/47. In six List A games, Johnson scalped the same number of wickets, while in 11 T20 matches, he picked up 12 wickets.
