Avesh Khan reprimanded for breaching Code of Conduct, Faf du Plessis fined for slow over rate

The 15th match of the sixteenth edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) saw Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) losing to Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) in a last-ball thriller. The KL Rahul-led team pulled off a win by the barest of margins (by one wicket) to upset the home crowd. But before the game came to a close, fans got to see a lot of drama.

From RCB batters’ putting on a show to Nicholas Pooran single-handedly destroying the RCB bowling lineup, the fans saw it all. The drama peaked in the last over of the LSG innings when one run was needed off two deliveries and Harshal Patel tried to run out Ravi Bishnoi who was gaining an unfair advantage.

While Harshal failed to pull it off, Bishnoi and Avesh Khan managed to sneak in a run through bye to win the game for their team. Both LSG batters looked over the moon after a thrilling win in the bag. While Bishnoi ran with his arms aloft, Khan slammed his helmet onto the ground. This act from Khan attracted criticism and the authorities have taken the required action.

Avesh was found guilty of breaching the IPL Code of Conduct and hence the LSG bowler has been reprimanded. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) issued a statement in this regard and revealed that Khan has admitted to a level 1 offence.

“Mr Avesh admitted to level 1 offence 2.2 of IPL’s Code of Conduct and accepted the sanction,” read the BCCI statement.
