Both the teams, Gujarat Titans (GT) and Delhi Capitals (DC) are playing their second league matches of the 16th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL). On Tuesday (April 4), Gujarat, with the help of their bowlers Mohammed Shami and Rashid Khan, were able to restrict David Warner and co. to a chaseable 162/8 at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in New Delhi.

After winning the toss, Gujarat skipper Hardik Pandya chose to field first. Opening Delhi’s innings, David Warner and Prithvi Shaw entered the ground to give a decent start. But they couldn’t do much because Shaw gave away his wicket to Mohammed Shami in the third over.

An over later, Shami sent Mitchell Marsh into packing as well. Delhi then batted for a while without losing a wicket. But in front of Alzarri Joseph’s 145.5 kph, Warner had no answer as the ball went on to bamboozle the stumps. Warner played a slow knock of 37 runs from 32 balls with seven boundaries. He was the high scorer from Delhi’s side.

After removing Warner, Joseph got rid of Sarfaraz Khan on the next ball. Sarfaraz also played a slow knock, scoring 30 runs from 34 balls with two fours. DC lost half of their batting line-up when Rashid Khan’s delivery crashed into Abhishek Porel’s stumps.

Gujarat were eyeing an easy target. However, Axar Patel’s valuable contribution took DC to 162/8 in their allotted 20 overs. Axar smashed two boundaries and three sixes to score 36 runs from 22 balls, at a strike rate of 163.64. On the fourth ball of the final over, Shami grabbed his third wicket by dismissing Patel who would have added a few more runs to the scoreboard.
