The Indian Premier League (IPL) will start on March 22 and will end on May 26. Six days afterward, the 2024 T20 World Cup will commence with India playing their first match on June 5.

This means, that after two months, the Indian players will be playing in the World Cup. So, if they fail to lift the trophy again, the blame would go to the cash-rich league.

This happened last year when the players lost the World Test Championship (WTC) final which took place just a couple of days after the completion of the IPL. Fans blamed the loss on the players’ participation in the IPL, opining that Team India members were fatigued, as a result of which they lost the match.

As per some reports, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) may send the Indian players (who are likely to be a part of the squad) earlier to New York for the T20 World Cup. The players will be those whose teams would fail to qualify for the playoffs. However, it is not confirmed yet.

Aakash Chopra urges BCCI to be stricter when it comes to Ranji Trophy

Amid the Ishan Kishan fiasco, Aakash Chopra urged the BCCI to be more strict with those players who are skipping the Ranji Trophy and rely on IPL performances for selection in the national team.

If first-class cricket is happening and if you are fit and are not part of the Indian team, go and play. If someone feels that he will return without playing, a strong message has to be sent that you will only be considered when you go and play.
Chopra said on his YouTube channel

Kishan cited mental fatigue and took a break but hasn’t yet made a comeback. He is now facing criticism for training in Baroda but not playing in the Ranji Trophy.
