The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) president Roger Binny and vice-president Rajeev Shukla visited Pakistan, and this for the first time after more than a decade that a BCCI member visited the neighbors. Pakistan is the original host of the 2023 Asia which is why the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) invited the board members of other Asian countries participating in the continental tournament for a dinner party.

In Pakistan, he also gave a riveting speech about how when India and Pakistan play against each other, everything comes to a standstill. After returning to India, Binny lauded PCB’s hospitality and said that they were treated like kings there.

It was a fantastic experience. Like when we played the test match in 1984 the same hospitality was given to us. We were treated like kings over there, so it was an excellent time for us. We were able to meet all the Pakistan officials and the Pakistan Cricket Board. They’re very happy with the outcome of us coming there as we were so happy to be there also at the same time,” Binny told ANI.

Pakistan and India haven’t played any match since 2012. Due to the non-stop political tension between the two countries, cricket has been affected a great deal. Days after heated meetings between PCB and BCCI with the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) members, the problem surrounding who will host the 2023 Asia Cup was solved. During that hassle, Pakistan even threatened to boycott the 2023 ODI World Cup in India.

Though everything has been sorted now (because Sri Lanka and Pakistan are co-hosting the Asia Cup and Pakistan will come to India for the ODI World Cup), problems between the two nations will arise again in 2025. Pakistan have got the hosting rights of the Champions Trophy.

The ODI World Cup in India will start on October 5 with a match between England and New Zealand in Ahmedabad. Pakistan will play against the Netherlands the next day.

India will kick start their campaign with a match against Australia on October 8 in Chennai. The two arch-rivals, India and Pakistan will lock horns on October 14 in Ahmedabad.
