Brad Hogg slams Mohammad Wasim Jr for leaving crease early

Former Australian cricketer Brad Hogg doesn’t want the non-strikers to get an unfair advantage when they leave the crease early. When three runs were needed off the last ball, Pakistan’s Mohammad Wasim Jr. left the crease early against Zimbabwe.

Hogg noticed that Wasim Jr was leaving his crease early. The former couldn’t refrain from saying that a severe penalty needs to be brought in if the non-strikers leave the crease early. He shared two pictures and wrote: “Why severe penalty needs to be brought in for leaving the crease before the ball is delivered! Last ball of the game last night!”

The Cricket fraternity won’t forget Deepti Sharma‘s mankading incident easily. Since September, cricket pundits and players have expressed their opinions if it’s in the spirit of cricket to dismiss the non-strikers. Those who favored mankading argued that leaving the crease early gives an unfair advantage to the batter and that a bowler mustn’t give a warning beforehand, while those who disagreed said mankading is unfair.

Deepti had dismissed Charlie Dean, the last hope of England who would have saved the team from a humiliating whitewash from the Women in Blue at the iconic Lord’s. Since that day, bowlers have either started giving warnings or also got engaged in a verbal spat. Deepak Chahar had warned Proteas’ Tristan Stubbs, while Australia’s Mitchell Starc also heard warning English skipper Jos Buttler “I am not Deepti Sharma.”

Mohammad Wasim Jr.’s leaving the crease early didn’t give an advantage to his team. Shaheen Shah Afridi, who was batting, shoved Brad Evan’s ball to mid-on and Sikandar Raza there, quickly picked it up. He threw it to the wicketkeeper Regis Chakabwa who then dislodged the bails to the heartbreak of the Men in Green.

Meanwhile, Pakistan will be locking horns against the Netherlands on Sunday [October 30] at the Optus Stadium in Perth. Babar Azam-led team is yet to win their points in the ongoing T20 World Cup 2022.
