“Cheating of the highest standard” Cricket Twitter accuses Mohammad Rizwan of foul play in Axar Patel’s controversial runout in the T20 World Cup opener

Axar Patel's controversial runout
India defeated arch-rivals Pakistan in a nail-biting T20 World Cup opener by 6 wickets to avenge their rare loss from last year thanks to Virat Kohli’s ‘Once in a lifetime inning’. Down and out after losing 4 early wickets, it looked like India was going to get humiliated by Pakistan once again at the same stage but the ‘King’ had other plans as he sailed India to a victory that will be talked about for a long time.
After Suryakumar Yadav was dismissed for 15 runs, Rohit Sharma made a brave call and sent Axar Patel at No.5. Axar was the only southpaw in the Indian batting lineup and hence he was sent to control the spinners and free some pressure off Virat Kohli who was building his innings at the other end.
But the move didn’t go well as Axar was dismissed for 2 runs after playing just 3 balls. But the manner in which Axar was dismissed became the talking out for many. He was run out by Babar Azam’s throw at the keeper’s end after Mohammad Rizwan lodged the stumps off. But in the replay, it wasn’t clear whether the bells came off by the ball or by Rizwan’s gloves.
Cricket fans debate over Axar Patel’s controversial runout

The umpire eventually judged that the ball hit the stump before Rizwan’s hands and Axar was given out. But multiple angles showed otherwise and the incident became a huge point of debate over social media.
Eventually, India won the match in the most dramatic fashion. They chased down 48 runs in the last 3 overs with Virat Kohli taking the charge right till the end and was unbeaten for 82 runs. He was deservingly judged the ‘Man of the match’.
