Serena Williams got eliminated from the US Open 2022 in the third round on Saturday. Though the arguably one of the greatest tennis players of all time has not been in good form in the last couple of years, this defeat means a lot to her and her fans. This match was the legendary tennis player’s last appearance as she announced her retirement last month but didn’t confirm the date or tournament.

But when she got eliminated, wishes poured in from the various parts of the world for the inspiring woman. And one of her well wishers is the cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar himself. Tendulkar crafted a heartfelt message to pay tribute to Serena.

Winner of 28 Olympics medals, American swimmer Michael Phelps also wished Serena on Twitter: “Her will, her strength, her determination…she simply never gives up. She’s a great example to us all. Congrats and thank you, Serena!!,” wrote Phelps.

Renowed golfer Tiger Woods also added to the countless congratulations to Serena. “It was a privilege to watch greatness. Congrats@serenawilliams”, wrote Woods. “@serenawilliams you’re literally the greatest on and off the court. Thank you for inspiring all of us to pursue our dreams. I love you little sis!!!!!!”
