Mukesh Choudhary was one of CSK’s silver linings in the 2022 IPL. While the team finished at 9th, the bowler stepped up and picked up 16 wickets, finishing as the highest wicket taker. He was useful with the new ball, with 11 out of his 16 wickets being of top order batters.

He missed the 2023 IPL due to injury and has now returned to CSK, but can’t find a spot in the playing 11. His role as a new-ball specialist has been taken back by Deepak Chahar and so, Choudhary now holds the bench. In an interview with The Hindu, he admitted he was frustrated not playing any matches.

Coming from an injury, it is difficult to get into the team. We have eight fast bowlers this year, so being in the eleven is difficult. When you are back from an injury, you have to start from zero. Tushar (Deshpande) and Deepak (Chahar) bhai have bowled well, so they should get a chance before me. It’s frustrating when you sit out but, I am waiting for my chance.
Mukesh Choudhary told The Hindu

Choudhary could return with Mustafizur Rahman out for the next few games, but an overseas player will most probably take the slot. CSK play SRH on 5th April, at the Rajiv Gandhi Stadium.
