Virat Kohli has played some of the most remarkable innings in the current 2023 ODI World Cup. The Indian fans expected something spectacular from him in the final against Australia on Sunday (November 19) at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. However, before he could do more damage after scoring his fifty, Aussie skipper Pat Cummins silenced the Ahmedabad crowd by dismissing him.

Kohli reached another half-century in this tournament. But on the third ball of the 29th over, Cummins’ short-pitched delivery did not give the 35-year-old any room to play his shot and the ball moved past him to shatter the stumps. From 63 balls, Kohli scored 54 runs with four boundaries.

The Indians fans expected to see Virat Kohli firing on all cylinders in the final. But as that did not happen, they are predicting another heartbreaking defeat in an ICC event. Some fans are now hoping for a Mohammed Shami show with the ball during India’s fielding.

Notably, this was Kohli’s sixth half-century that he did not convert to a century. In the semifinal, he scored 117 runs, while his other two centuries were 101* and 103*. He is not the leading run-scorer in the tournament with 765 runs from 11 matches, with the best batting average of 95.62.

Currently, India are in a precarious situation, for they have lost eight wickets for 214 runs. KL Rahul so far scored the most runs, a slow 107-ball 66-run knock before he became Mitchell Starc’s victim.
