Australia under Pat Cummins‘ captaincy lifted their historic sixth World Cup trophy by beating India by six wickets on Sunday (November 19) at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. After their World Cup glory, a post by Cummins from last year has been doing the rounds on social media.

In November 2022, Cummins announced that he would not be participating in the 2023 Indian Premier League (IPL) due to a busy international schedule and will rest before the Ashes and the World Cup. He used to play for the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR).

I've made the difficult decision to miss next year's IPL. The international schedule is packed with Tests and ODI's for the next 12 months, so I will take some rest ahead of the Ashes series and the World Cup.

Pat Cummins said Australia saved their best for the last

Talking about the match, the main man to hail the most is Travis Head. He soaked in all the pressure to produce one of the best knocks of this tournament. His second century came at the right moment.

Chasing 241 runs, Australia lost three wickets quickly, but Head stayed glued to the crease till the 43rd over. Unfortunately, he did not hit the winning runs as Mohammed Siraj dismissed him with a catch by Shubman Gill. With just two runs needed to win the match, new batter Glenn Maxwell went for doubles and so the Aussies won the title again.

At the post-match presentation, Pat Cummins said the team saved their best for the last. He praised Head for his match-winning innings.

We saved our best for the last. I am chuffed with keeping them to 240- anything under 300 really. I was one of those blokes with the hearts fluttering but Head took the game on.

In case you missed!
