Pakistan have to pull off the impossible to qualify for the semi-finals of the 2023 ODI World Cup. New Zealand’s thumping victory over Sri Lanka made it extremely difficult for Babar Azam and Co. to make it to the top four. However, former Pakistan bowler Wasim Akram gave a solution to the Men in Green so that they could save themselves a berth in the semi-finals.

Akram suggested Babar Azam and his men lock England in their dressing room. Doing so will help them to get dismissed by timed-out, which will eventually help Pakistan win by a massive margin.

For the unversed, Pakistan have to beat England in their last Group stage match by a minimum of 280 runs, or they have to chase down whatever target they get within five overs. And if Pakistan lose the toss during the match, they will eventually get knocked out of the World Cup, hence Akram’s above-mentioned hilarious suggestion. The ex-Pakistani paceman appeared on a news TV channel and the host of the show revealed Akram’s suggestion, which he seemed to have shared backstage.

Wasim bhai gave the idea that Pakistan should bat first, then lock England up in their dressing room and get them timed out in 20 minutes to win the match.
The host said on A sport.

Former Pakistan skipper Misbah-ul-Haq was also present at the show. His suggestion was that Pakistan should not allow England to bat first at all.

Allow England to bat first and lock up the dressing room after that. Why let them put up a total at all?
Misbah said on the show.

Wasim Akram takes a dig at active Pakistani players who are becoming pundits during the World Cup

The Pakistan team’s poor performance in the World Cup attracted considerable criticism from Pakistan. Several former and active players launched scathing attacks on the team and gave their suggestions so that they could do well in the tournament.

But Akram, who also criticized the team for their unimpressive shows, took a dig at those active Pakistani players who have become pundits on TV. Akram can’t understand why these players who still want to play for the Men in Green are sitting on television. His comments seemed to be for Mohammad Amir and Imad Wasim, as both of them started discussing the team’s performance on a television channel.
