Before the start of the Benaud-Qadir Trophy series, Australia’s David Warner was in the news thanks to Mitchell Johnson‘s scathing attack in his column for The West Australian. Johnson remarked Warner does not deserve to decide his farewell Test match, and that people should not forget Warner’s involvement in the infamous ball-tampering saga in 2018.
Warner kept quiet when Johnson’s column became a talking point of the town but when the 37-year-old was asked about the subject, he simply said that everyone is entitled to their own opinions. However, for the cricket fraternity and those following the Australia-Pakistan Test series, Warner gave a perfect answer to Johnson through his bat, by smashing his century in Perth’s Optus Stadium.
With 16 fours and four sixes, Warner played 211 balls to score 164 runs before Aamer Jamal dismissed him with a catch by Imam-ul-Haq. Soon after reaching the three-figure mark, Warner jumped in the air and it seemed he put his finger on his lips, a gesture for the critics. After his innings, he talked about silencing his critics.
