RCB vs DC

What is happening to Delhi Capitals? They played their fifth match against Faf du Plessis-led Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) and ended up losing it by 23 runs on Saturday (April 15) at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium. This defeat was their fifth one on the trot.

Chasing a competitive 175-run target, Anuj Rawat sent Prithvi Shaw into packing for a duck in the first over itself due to a run-out. Shaw has been struggling badly this season. The next batter to depart for a duck was Mitchell Marsh, in the next over, off Wayne Parnell’s delivery. Yash Dhull followed his two teammates to the pavilion in the next over courtesy of Mohammed Siraj.

The only batter, on whom the Capitals depended was David Warner. Warner had been consistently contributing runs, and scored half-centuries a couple of times, though, all were slow innings. But this time, Vyshak Vijay Kumar made him his first victim of the Indian Premier League (IPL).

Later, Axar Patel tried to add quick runs to steer the team to the target. Axar has improved a lot on his batting but this time also, he couldn’t save the team. He scored 21 runs from 13 balls before Vyshak Vijay Kumar made him one of his victims.

One man who stood out for the Delhi Capitals was Manish Pandey. Somehow he added 50 runs from 38 balls with five fours and a six before Wanindu Hasaranga got rid of him off LBW. The umpire did not raise his finger but DRS by Faf du Plessis came in the team’s favor and Pandey took a long walk to the pavilion. After his dismissal, Capitals were tethering at 98/7. With quick contributions from Aman Khan (18 of 10) and Anrich Nortje (23* off 14), DC huffed and puffed to 151/9 and fell short of overs to complete their left 23 runs.

Vyshak Vijay Kumar was the pick of the bowling attack from RCB as he wrapped up the match with three scalps for 20 runs in his full quota of four overs, at an economy of 5. After DC’s loss, fans created memes to mock the team for the fifth consecutive defeat.
