“Dhoni said he really..,” Dinesh Karthik feels he ‘least expected’ this gesture from MS Dhoni

MS Dhoni and Dinesh Karthik
Dinesh Karthik, who is out of the national side for a long time, is doing commentary on the India-Australia Test series. He will be seen in action in the upcoming Indian Premier League (IPL), with the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB).
In an RCB podcast, Karthik was speaking about how he likes doing commentary, looking at the game analytically, and his trying to make sense out of a situation plus articulating it in the way he thinks. Now that Karthik has picked up the mic, his fan base has also started increasing and one such fan is the former India captain MS Dhoni. Karthik said that his biggest accolade while doing the talking job during matches was when Dhoni called him and praised his commentary skills.
“And my biggest accolade came from the person that I least expected from- MS Dhoni,” Karthik said in the RCB podcast. “He called me and said: ‘I really enjoyed the commentary. Very, very good. Well done.’ I was like, wow, thank you so much. So, that is bug, you know, obviously, he watches a lot of this sport. And so to hear him say that was really good. And I was happy that you enjoyed my commentary.“
Dhoni and Karthik both were the glovesmen of India. Many believe that Karthik lost his place in the side as a regular wicketkeeper when Dhoni burst into the scene in the mid-2000 and was immovable for around 14 years. But Karthik himself has said that he has no issues with those decisions. “In many ways I am content,” he said in that podcast.

Dinesh Karthik had a brilliant season with RCB last year
RCB got the services of the wicket-keeper batsman Dinesh Karthik last year. Apart from keeping, Karthik had a brilliant season with the Royals with the bat also.
His major job was to give the finishing touches, which he did at a breathtaking strike rate of 183 while scoring 330 runs in 16 innings. His form made it impossible for the management to ignore him. And owing to his IPL performance, he once again earned a place in the national team. The 37-year-old did produce stellar performances in bilateral series, but couldn’t emulate the same at the T20 World Cup, and hence he lost his place once again.
Meanwhile, he has played 229 IPL matches, and amassed 4376 runs at a strike rate of 132.65, with the highest being an unbeaten 97 runs. He also has 20 half-centuries to his name.
