“It’s better to give him a break” – Dodda Ganesh passes his verdict on KL Rahul’s poor form
KL Rahul
Former Indian pacer Dodda Ganesh believes that opener KL Rahul should be given rest as he has not been in good touch in the ongoing T20 World Cup in Australia. Despite doing well in practice matches, the Indian vice-captain has failed to make any impact with the bat in the official fixtures.
The former Karnataka cricketer took to Twitter to express his opinion on Rahul’s series of poor performances. Dodda feels that there’s no harm in resting an out-of-form player. He also started that persisting with that player will only harm his confidence, thus, the case needs to be managed in a better way.
“When a player is completely out of sorts it’s better to give him a break. There’s no harm in it. Many great batsmen have gone through it. But the more you persist with the batsman in poor form the chances of him losing his confidence is more. Need to handle this well #KLRahul,” his post read.
Rahul’s poor form in the international circuit has been a concern for the Indian team. In order to combat the same, Indian batting legend Sunil Gavaskar has asked an influential figure in the Indian team to help Rahul.
Sunil Gavaskar asks Paddy Upton to help KL Rahul
Former Indian cricketer Sunil Gavaskar has backed KL Rahul to retain his spot in the XI, given his quality and experience. Gavaskar believes while the batting coach will guide him about his technical mistakes, mental conditioning coach Paddy Upton should step in to help the opener grow his confidence.
“We have Paddy Upton as the mental conditioning coach and if he has not done anything with him. While the batting coach can tell him his mistakes, there is a need for the mental conditioning coach to talk with the player to increase his confidence. He should tell Rahul that he has got the talent and he can score big runs,” Gavaskar said on Sports Tak.

KL Rahul has managed to score only 22 runs in three matches and looked completely off colors. This has raised questions over his place in the team. Virat Kohli, Deepak Hooda, and Rishabh Pant are the options available for the opening position. However, Rohit Sharma and Co. might want to persist with the 30-year-old batsman.
