“Don’t take Virat Kohli easy”- Yasir Shah’s warning to Pakistan ahead of Asia Cup 2022
Virat Kohli
Former India captain Virat Kohli is struggling to score runs and he is suffering from a prolonged lean patch. Since November 2019, he hasn’t scored a ton in international cricket. But as India will clash against its arch-rivals Pakistan in Asia Cup 2022, Pakistan spiner Yasir Shah issued a warning for his own team to be wary of Kohli and not to take him lightly.
“Don’t take Virat Kohli easy. Yes, he is not in form because he is struggling to score runs, but he is a world-class player and he can come back to form at any time,” he said to Pakistan channel pktv.tv.
Kohli has a history of scoring good runs against Pakistan. The seven matches that India played against Pakistan in T20I, he has scored 311 runs so far at an average of 77.75. He has remained unbeaten three times out of seven matches. Against Pakistan, he has smashed 35 fours and five sixes.
In the 2021 T20 World Cup, Kohli was the only batter who scored runs when India were losing quick wickets. Men in Green’s Shaheen Afridi was the main reason behind India’s loss by 10 wickets at the mega event. But he has been ruled out of the Asia Cup due to injury in his left knee.
Pakistan also, for the first time in the history of World Cup matches, were able to defeat India in that tournament.
All eyes will be on Virat Kohli during Asia Cup 2022
Men in Blue have started adapting themselves to playing attacking cricket under the captaincy of Rohit Sharma and head coach Rahul Dravid. Kohli too has brought a change in his game as he doesn’t take much time at the crease and starts attacking from the very first ball. Although, this didn’t give effective result in the previous matches that he played.
He had an forgetful season in IPL 2022 and then he was unable to convert good start into big knocks while touring England. All eyes will be on Kohli when he will walk to the crease during Asia Cup 2022.
