Fans love using Twitter to discuss and share their opinions about cricket matches on the social media platform but most of the time, when a cricketer fails to perform better in a match, he becomes a target of brutal trolls by the same fans, who used to praise him based on how he performed brilliantly in previous matches. Most of the time too, this adds extra pressure onto the players.

But India leg-spinner Yuzvendra Chahal, who is very active on social media, said that it’s better to ignore whatever happens on social media. He, in a way, slammed those users too who just use the platform to troll others.

“Social media is a different thing. Whatever happens there, it’s better to ignore. Whoever comments, they are with five followers without dp. They have made their accounts just to comment and they haven’t done anything in their life, so we just ignore these things because we know that if I didn’t perform better then I will definetely go out of the team,” said Chahal in an interview with Sports Yaari.

“But we have that potential, we back ourselves. We’ve helped India win many matches. So we think in that way how our mindset was at that time but they go against one another. But the way you make a comeback… you think how you’ve performed better before and that you’ve that calibre. That’s why when you play for India…of course you have to be mentally tough because you’re playing for India. We back that thing. We talk to our friends, talk to management, then with our captain,” he added.

Then Yuzvendra Chahal talked about former India captain Virat Kohli who is suffering from prolonged lean patch. Chahal believes that even Kohli didn’t make a hundred, he contributed crucial runs to the team’s innings.

“If there is someone who has 50+ average in T20Is, he has been the Man Of The Tournament in two T20 World Cups, he has 70 hundreds across all formats. You just see his average across all formats, the problem is we just think about his 100s, we don’t talk about those valuable contributions of 60-70 because of the standards he has set,” Chahal said in a chat with Sports Yaari.

“If he is there at the crease and has 15-20 runs behind him, I am telling you no bowler wants to bowl to him,” he went on to add.
