“East India Company vibes,” fans react as LSG’s Mark Wood tries ‘Lucknawi’ accent
While Mark Wood erred a little trying the Lucknawi accent, he needs to be fit as soon as possible.
England pacer Mark Wood sent cricket fans into a frenzy as he tried the Lucknawi accent. Wood, who is currently playing his trade for Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) in IPL 2023 tried a few slangs famous in the suburbs of the City of Nawabs. While the LSG pacer was spot on with a few of them, Wood got close to the rest. Meanwhile, fans could not stop themselves from sharing their views on this effort from Wood.
Notably, Mark Wood started IPL 2023 on a high as the pacer bagged five wickets on his LSG debut. The right-arm quick then added six more wickets to his name in the next three matches. However, Wood has been missing in action since then. The LSG pacer is reportedly nursing an injury and is expected to return to action soon.
Now, coming back to Wood’s video, the LSG pacer starts with the Lucknawi version of Come On. Wood then tries ‘Don’t show off’, ‘Get Lost’, ‘Madam’, ‘Disgusting’, and a few others. He then says ‘Thank You’ at the end of the video.
This video of Wood attracted quite a few reactions from the fans. While some praised the LSG pacer for his effort, some felt listening to him brought back the “East India Company” vibes.

While Mark Wood erred a little trying the Lucknawi accent, he needs to be fit as soon as possible. Wood’s absence might not have felt like a big loss for LSG as Naveen Ul Haq has done a fair job so far, but the team needs someone like Wood to hurry the opposition batters with his raw pace.
