MS Dhoni, Robin Uthappa
Since donning India and Chennai Super Kings (CSK) jerseys, MS Dhoni has given so many memories to the Indian cricket fraternity as well as his teammates. One such was revealed by Robin Uthappa who played alongside the CSK skipper for a couple of seasons.
Uthappa revealed how Dhoni’s decision annoyed him because he ended up losing a wicket while playing for the Rajasthan Royals. The 37-year-old also recalled an incident where he was impressed by Dhoni’s fielding position which trapped Devdutt Padikkal.
“When I played against CSK, I used to be very annoyed. I was irritated with him. He didn’t have a fine leg for Hazlewood, so I knew he will bowl to this angle (outside-off). I tried getting a boundary there (deep point) and got out. He forces you to play in areas where you’re not used to playing,” Uthappa said on Jio Cinema.
Uthappa then added that the former India captain plays with batsmen’s minds and forced them as well as the bowlers to think differently. He recalled another incident that involved Devdutt Padikkal. Padikkal was playing the pick-up shot really well, but Dhoni forced him to keep playing that shot, “and he brought the fine leg more into a leg-gully sort of a position. I was like, ‘Where does he come up with these things?’” Uthappa added.
