One of the most heated arguments in and around the subcontinent is the Virat Kohli-Babar Azam comparison. It always pops up when arch-rivals India and Pakistan are talked about. While Babar Azam sits at the top of the ODI rankings as the no.1 batter, Virat Kohli’s rough patch lingers.
Former Pakistani pacer Rana Naved-Ul-Hasan recently spoke about how he thinks Babar Azam is more technically sound than his Indian counterpart Virat Kohli. The Kohli-Babar argument has gathered opinions from various members of the fraternity and Rana Naved was heard giving his views about the same on the Nadir Ali Podcast.
On the batters’ ability to be technically sound, Naved said, “Whenever we compare Babar Azam or Virat Kohli, I always say Babar is more technically sound than him, and this is why he has rare failures. Kohli struggled recently for a year or year and a half because he is a bottom-handed player, and when these players fail it lasts longer.”
Rana Naved believes it’s easy to dismiss Virat Kohli

Talking about whether he could pick up Kohli’s wicket, Naved said, “If I was in my old rhythm, then between the two I can get Kohli out easily. I had good outswing so I would have gotten him caught at slips or the wicketkeeper.”
Babar Azam and Virat Kohli are set to face off in the upcoming ODI World Cup, on 15th October in front of a huge gathering at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. Babar Azam will be coming off solid form while things continue to remain a bit rocky for King Kohli.
However, Kohli always finds ways to score runs against Pakistan and it will be interesting to see if the 34-year-old does it again. On the other hand, Babar Azam has not lived up to the reputation whenever he has played against India.
