Jamaican all-rounder, Fabian Allen, was mugged outside his team hotel during the ongoing SA20. It occurred outside the Sandton Sun Hotel in Johannesburg, with the assailant holding the player at gunpoint.
The all-rounder was robbed of his phone, bag and other personal belongings. Allen’s mugging was confirmed by Paarl Royals, Cricket South Africa and Cricket West Indies, also confirming Allen was unharmed.
West Indies coach, Andre Coley who is also from Jamaica, contacted the all-rounder through Obed McCoy who also plays for the Royals. A SA20 spokesperson confirmed the mugging, but they redirected all questions on the crime to the police. Allen himself has not spoken about the incident yet. The mugging raises questions regarding the safety of the players, with Cricbuzz stating this is the 2nd security issue raised in the current season of the SA20.
